TIF-funded TIFIA loan for Salesforce (Transbay) Transit Center, San Franciso
The Challenge
Salesforce Transit Center is an intermodal center for bus, light and commuter rail transit, and eventually high-speed rail. The TIFIA loan was partially funded from tax increments from surrounding properties, one of the major examples of transit value capture financing.
The Approach
Rebel served as financial advisor to the Build America Bureau TIFIA program, advising the Bureau on amendments to the project. Rebel conducted due diligence on land sales and the real estate market, the construction program, and proposed loan amendments, and supported the Bureau with financial modeling and negotiation of amendments.
Impact
The Salesforce Transit Center has become a critical transportation hub in downtown San Francisco, helping to ease car congestion and spurring the development of an adjacent neighborhood.
