Port of Mombasa
The Dutch Embassy in Nairobi organized a Trade Mission on Port Development and Blue Economy for Dutch companies interested in investing in the development of ports in Kenya. Rebel was contracted by the Dutch government to facilitate matchmaking with the Dutch participants during this trade mission to Kenya.
The challenge
The Netherlands remains one of Kenya’s top trade and investment partners. Since independence, the Netherlands has been among the top five global destinations for Kenyan goods and the largest in Europe. At the same time, the Netherlands is among the top five sources of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to Kenya. Therefore, we can easily say that Kenya and the Netherlands enjoy strong trade relations, with agriculture, specifically horticulture, as a key driver. The challenge is to build on this by attracting new companies that are willing to invest in or trade with Kenya.
The approach
Rebel identified companies in Kenya that might be interested in doing business with Dutch companies, as well as relevant government organizations.
These organizations were set up to have matchmaking sessions during the ports and logistics trade mission.
Impact
Using internal knowledge on the ports and logistics sector to help others strengthen their networks.
