Managing the tendering process for the container terminal at Ngqura Port

Public tender
After it had become clear that the new container terminal at Ngqura Port was to be open to private sector bids after all, the Transnational Port Authority of South Africa enlisted Rebel’s help in managing the tender process. The project had been given the to a state company earlier but the agreement had to be cancelled. This was an extra inducement to turn a precarious process into a smooth and efficient one.

Africa’s biggest terminal
The terminal is going to be the biggest in Africa and represents an interesting growth market which has attracted the interest of all the main operators. Our role is to manage the tender according to international standards and combine African best practice with international requirements.

Expertise
Rebel has expert knowledge of international tendering, process management, ratings and ports: we know what is on offer. This helped our client to outline the clear selection criteria necessary for an efficient selection phase. The first selection has now taken place and the actual tendering phase has begun. We are confident our contribution will have a positive impact on the efficiency of the port sector in South Africa.
